Windows XP SP3This has gone into RC3 – i.e. the last patching before production release. More about it at MajorGeeks but beware this is still an unofficial release and may (will) contain bugs. I would expect the final release in January. This will be good news for anyone with a slightly flaky system or who is planning a rebuild. Having all the updates together in one place makes it so much easier and guarantees that you haven’t missed one.

Well that last test took a while. It is now reported that it has gone to production and will be available on April 29th. SP2 came out as a CD widely available in retail stores for free, very convenient as it was large. Perhaps now broadband is more widespread they won’t bother. I am keen on it because installing SP2 cleared up a lot of lingering problems with my system and perhaps this will do the same.
