Hi Paul,

I am on the latest 2.3.1 as I checked when I had the last offensive document sent to me and, no it doesn't support docx. However the people who packaged your Ubuntu version included an integrated odf converter which is why it works for you. There is a command line Windows version but it is not integrated yet. Full details here http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/FAQ/General/OpeningMSO2007Files They list a number of ways you can read them, the last of which was interesting - rename the file to .zip and unzip it. This results in an XML file which is at least readable.

What version of OOo are you using Rick. I think my versions (2.3) both open those things. (A translator - DOCX to ODT) has been available for some months now.

However, part of me feels that the best tactic is to continue to say "no comprehendo" just to further nark the poor suckers who paid silly money for the latest version of MSOffice. Or even better, translate it into a .DOC format, then send it back, indicating that they may wish to resend it in a format other computer users can understand.
