I can report than I am part of the way there. I have written the MediaMonkey script which manages the ReplayGain tags in FLAC files. It allows the track gain to be overwritten by the volume gain and also to apply an offset to either to allow headroom and restore the originals as required. This can be found at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63678

Now I am trying to find out how to write iTunNORM tags to MP3 files and complete the job. I know that the MP3Tag program can do it but I would like to stick inside MediaMonkey if I can.

Firstly, a big thank you!

Didn't have a soldering iron or a Stanley. I had to use a flat head screwdriver with bruit force to prise the covers semi apart... Sure enough, the switch button fell out.

Not having a soldering iron, I thought I was out of luck. However, I placed the button on top of the old placements. Leaving the battery in, tested button and the LED flashed. So, with a little hope, I simply used glue to hold the button inplace. When pressed through the top cover, there is enough pressure to make it work.

I suggest soldering it obviously, but this works as a temp fix if you have the loose button.

Thanks, Ry

Many thanks for the advice to use the Radio Controls buttons. I believe it will be just for my Scenic.
Happy New Year !!!

Well, I've done it now. Painless. The method was 1. Verify the boot disk. 2. Turn off Time Machine 3. SuperDuper the boot disk onto a backup. 4. Do the upgrade (took about 40 minutes). 5. Switch Time Machine back on. 6. Re-establish Spaces (as it seems to forget them all).

What went wrong or don't I like. iTunes and Safari had been downgraded to an older version so had to be updated again. Java was missing (needed for CyberDuck). The finder is a bit odd - and is not showing a bottom bar with space left (fixed using preferences) nor does it seem to show the running time of MP3 files.

A big one people should be wary of - as soon as you start up Time Machine again it wipes out 120GB of your old backups to fit all the changed stuff on.

I hate the new Mission Control - spaces was much better; I think in more than one dimension and also it is slow to update. I like that the mouse traverses the screen faster. Identified which space is which using numbered wallpaper - why can't it tell you in the menu bar?

An Apple ID that is an email address is required to use iCloud!

Un-hid the Library using a terminal command.

Can't get rid of the boot noise.

More as I learn more.

Many thanks for providing a how-to guide re. fitting a new battery to my old LP722 controller. You've saved me lots of money & hassle. In short, you're a star! The funny thing is that the instructions which came with the controller didn't say anything about the need to replace the battery in a few years. I suppose the manufacturers assume that you'll splash the cash on having a brand new one fitted, which is a bit silly really. Thanks again for the clear instructions. Much appreciated!

Thanks for this great information. I just saved £150. I managed to open my key-card and solder the micro-switch back it its place. It had fallen off and the lock button was not working. I didn't need any magnifying glass or special pliers or any special tools. Just a lot of patience and care. Opening it was particularly challenging but the images here helped a lot.
