I think I first noticed it in some Word documents or email. MS-Word certainly doesn&#8217;t object to &#8220;none-&#8221; probably because the spell checker regards it as a separate word but it may arise if you leave a space because &#8220;non&#8221; by itself is not an English word. Do a Google search for &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/search?num=20&#038;hl=en&#038;newwindow=1&#038;q=none-combatant&#038;btnG=Search&#038;meta=\">none-combatant<\/a>&#8221; to see what I mean.
