{"id":336,"date":"2008-05-13T09:46:39","date_gmt":"2008-05-13T08:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/?p=336"},"modified":"2014-04-17T10:56:13","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T09:56:13","slug":"windows-xp-sp3-quality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/archives\/336","title":{"rendered":"Windows XP SP3 Quality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the first screens you are presented with when installing Windows XP Service pack 3 (from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/downloads\/details.aspx?FamilyID=2fcde6ce-b5fb-4488-8c50-fe22559d164e&#038;DisplayLang=en\">CD version<\/a>) is one that asks &#8220;What to know before installing Service Pack 3.&#8221; A useful feature you would think, except that when you click the link a page opens in the browser headed &#8220;More information about installing Service Pack 2&#8221; and says &#8220;2&#8221; all the way down so I have no idea if any of it is relevant. If you click through to the &#8220;Readme&#8221; it seems to be more about SP3.<\/p>\n<p>This may be a trivial point but doesn&#8217;t encourage confidence in the Quality Assurance at Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p>Update: 29 May 2008\u2014Although I have had no trouble with SP3, having now installed it on 4 desktops, 2 laptops and one virtual machine, there are <a href=\"http:\/\/windowssecrets.com\/comp\/080529\/\">strong reports about some problems<\/a>.
