{"id":359,"date":"2008-06-18T11:12:48","date_gmt":"2008-06-18T10:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/?p=359"},"modified":"2014-04-17T10:55:48","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T09:55:48","slug":"firefox-3-extensions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/archives\/359","title":{"rendered":"Firefox 3 Extensions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even after the extended build-up and yesterday&#8217;s world-wide launch there are still a few extensions that haven&#8217;t been updated for Firefox version 3.<\/p>\n<p>These are a few that I found that could be simply hacked to enable them to load. I haven&#8217;t altered the functionality at all, just changed the maximum version number to 3.* and tested them. They work on my system but you use them at your own risk on yours.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/2489\">CacheViewer 0.4.7<\/a> \u2014 Update: <del>Hacked version 0.4.7.99<\/del> Version 0.4.7.1 now available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/313\">Stop-or-Reload Button 0.2.2<\/a> \u2014 The page says it works with Firefox 3 but it doesn&#8217;t. <a href='http:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/stoporreload_button0.2.2.99fx.xpi' title='Stop or Reload Button'>Hacked version 0.2.2.99<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/3396\">UK Threat Level 0.15<\/a> \u2014 Update: <del>Hacked version 0.15.99<\/del> Version 0.16 now available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/3366\">British English Dictionary 1.19<\/a> \u2014 The page says it works with Firefox 3 but it doesn&#8217;t. <a href='http:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/british_english_dictionary1.19.99.2-fx-zm-tb.xpi' title='British English Dictionary'>Hacked version 1.19.99<\/a> supersedes <a href=\"http:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/archives\/197\">my earlier version<\/a>. This extension is also suitable for Thunderbird 2.*. It is not entirely clear if this dictionary is needed for Firefox 3 or if there is one built into the English (British) basic download.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/315\">View Cookies 1.7<\/a> is ok but for some reason won&#8217;t update automatically.<\/p>\n<p>Update: <a href=\"http:\/\/pizzaseo.com\/firefox-pagerank\">Google Pagerank Status<\/a> 0.9.8 \u2014 Although the web site doesn&#8217;t say so, the version there is now 0.9.9 and does support Firefox 3.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/users.skynet.be\/mgueury\/mozilla\/\">HTML Validator 0.8.4.1<\/a> (Mac OS X Intel) \u2014 <del>It says that<\/del> version 0.8.5.2 is now available <del>but there is nothing on the other end of the link<\/del>. Mac OS versions are made even though the <a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/249\">official Firefox Add-ons page<\/a> says they are not.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/objection.mozdev.org\/\">Objection 0.2.2<\/a> \u2014 Like View Cookies, the automatic updater doesn&#8217;t seem to work. Version 0.3.3 supports Firefox 3.<\/p>\n<p>Update: <a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/2110\">Minimize to Tray 0.0.1.2006102615+<\/a> (windows) \u2014 <a href='http:\/\/west-penwith.org.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/minimizetotray0.0.1.2006102615.99fxzmsbtb.xpi' title='Minimize to Tray'>Hacked version 0.0.1.2006102615.99<\/a> also works with Thunderbird 2.*.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.krickelkrackel.de\/autohide\/\">Autohide 1.2<\/a> \u2014 Most of the features are incorporated into the base build of Firefox 3 so I won&#8217;t be using it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even after the extended build-up and yesterday&#8217;s world-wide launch there are still a few extensions that haven&#8217;t been updated for Firefox version 3.
