Popular romances of the west of England—The drolls,
traditions and superstitions of old Cornwall; 1881. Many
of the stories, particularly those of the giants, are set in
Penwith. There are two series, often bound together. They
remained in print for a long time, at least until the
1930’s. These have been transcribed and can be
found at
Sacred Texts and also on CD-ROM- Institute of Cornish Studies. Cornish Studies (Annual publication—Issue 7 (1979) includes “Oral History Project—Farming in West Penwith”, Issue 15 (1987) includes “Holman’s foundry, St. Just 1890–1951”);1973–1992.
