I Ann Remfrey of Newithale (?) in the Parish of Philleigh, Cornwall, Spinster, being in sound and disposing mind, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, and do dispose of my Property in the following manner, viz, I give unto my Sister Charity Argis all my wearing apparel, also any thing of the Bedding that she likes to take. Also I give unto my two nieces Catherine Remfrey and Ann Remfrey, late of Tresilian, my Chest of Drawers. And as to all the rest and residue of my Property of every description I give unto my Brother Thomas Gerrans Remfrey on this condition that he pay unto my Sister Charity Argis the sum of three shillings a week as long as she lives provided the amount of my property will last so long, and I appoint my Brothers Thomas Gerrans Remfrey and Cyprian Remfrey Executors of this my last will and testament. This is the last Will and Testament of me James Remfry of the Parish of Saint Austell in the County of Cornwall Mine Agent. First I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. Also I give to my Son Charles All my leasehold dwelling house, garden and premises situate at Mount Charles in the said Parish during all my interest therein he paying thereout unto his Brother William forty pounds at or before the expiration of two years next after my decease, and which said sum I do hereby give him accordingly and charge my said leasehold premises with the payment thereof. I give one large silver tablespoon to James the son of the said William. I give to Mary Ann Withycombe the Daughter of my said son Charles my tea chest, round table, four silver tea spoons and sugar tongs. I give to my three Grandchildren, Mary, Eliza and Thomas the children of my deceased Daughter Mary Ann Carpenter one pound each. Lastly all the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattels rights and credits ready money personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath to my sons Joseph and Josiah share and share alike as tenants in common, and I appoint them the said Joseph and Josiah to be the Executors of this my Will. This is the last Will and Testament of me Henry Remfry of Torpoint in the County of Cornwall Retired Bargemaster made this twenty second day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty three, as follows ( that is to say) I give and bequeath unto each of my Brothers and Sisters the sum of five pounds Sterling. I give and bequeath unto my Nephew John Pauser five pounds sterling. I give and bequeath unto my Brother in Law Isaac Hoskin the sum of five pounds sterling, each of which legacies I hereby will and direct shall be paid by my Executrix hereinafter named within one calender month after my decease. I give devise and bequeath the Dwelling House in which I now reside and also all my monies, securities for money, debts, monies due to me on mortgage, Household Furniture, plate linen china and all other my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever both real and personal unto and to the use of my dear wife Harriet Remfrey her heirs executors administrators and assigns to and for her and their own use and benefit for ever Subject nevertheless to the payment of the said pecuniary legacies, my just debts, funeral expenses and the costs of proving this my will And I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said dear wife Sole Executrix of this my will hereby revoking all former wills by me made and declaring this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year first before written.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Gerrans Remfry of Lemon Street in the parish of Kenwyn in the Town of Truro. I give and bequeath all that my Lime Yard and Premises now in his occupation and the dwelling and other houses and utensils and materials therein and thereon, situated in a Street called Tabernacle Street in Truro asoresaid unto my Son Thomas Edwards Remfry for and during the term of his natural life Provided always that if the said Thomas Edwards remfry should die leaving a Widow or issue him surviving then and not otherwise I give and bequeath such my Lime Yard hereditaments and premises from and after the decease of the said Thomas Edwards Remfry unto such Widow and issue jointly during her and their respective natural lives Provided always that the said Thomas Edwards Remfry and such other persons as aforesaid do and shall keep the said Lime Yard Kiln hereditaments and premises in good and substantial Repair and as the present lives on which it is held drop off cause other lives to be added thereon accordingly to the terms of the original lease thereof to me and also pay the premiums fore such renewals and all the ground rent rates taxes and assessments chargeable on the same hereditaments and premises. And in case the said Thomas Edwards Remfry should not leave a Widow or lawfull issue or such Widow and Issue shall die before the determination of my estate term and interest in the said Lime Yard hereditaments anb premises then I Give and bequeath the same from and after the decease of the said Thomas Edwards Remfry or of the last survivor of such widow and issue, unto such persons or person as would have been entitled to my personal estate in case I had died Intestate their or his Executors Administrators and Assigns absolutely.

I give and bequeath to my Daughter Jane Ann Remfry all my three several Messuages or Dwelling Houses and the outhouses premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging that is to say the Messuage and premises in which I now reside at the corner of Lemon Street and Carclw Street, the Messuage and premises in Lemon Street at present in the occupation of Mr.Michell, Surgeon, and the Messuage and premises in Carclew Street at present in the occupation of Mr.Farley, To Hold the same three several Messuages and premises unto the said Jane Ann Remfry for and during the term of her natural life to and for her sole and separate use and benefit independent of any Husband or Husbands she may intermarry with and not to be subject to his or their debts control or engagements And I do hereby declare that the receipts of my said daughter for the rents issues and profits of the said several Messuages hereditaments and premises shall be good and sufficient discharges to the persons paying the same notwithstanding her coverture And it being my wish and desire that the said Jane Ann Remfry should enjoy during her natural life the Interest and proceeds of the sum of money belonging to the estate of the late Mrs. Farrell which I at present enjoy Now provided that the parties who shall be entitled to such Interest do and shall immediately or within twelve calendour months after my decease assign by deed to or in trust for and do allow the said Jane Ann Remfry to receive such Interset and proceeds during her natural life then but not otherwise I give and bequeath the said three several Messuages hereditaments and premises from and after the decease of the said Jane Ann Remfry unto my Executors herein after named their Executors and Administrators In Trust as to the Messuage and premises in which I now reside, exclusive of the two rooms now held therewith belonging to the house occupied by Mr.Farley, to be held by my Executors for the residence and occupation of such persons as would have been entitled to my personal estate in case I had died intestate until all my children shall have departed this life and then to be sold or otherwise disposed of as such persons who would have been entitled to my personal estate in case of Intestacy their Executors or Administrators may appoint And as to the said other two several Messuages and premises In Trust for such persons as would have been entitled to my personal estate in case I had died Intestate their Executos Administrators and Assigns and to be disposed of as they and he may direct and appoint Provided also that in case such persons who shall be entitled to the proceeds and Interest of the funds of the estate of the said Mrs. Farrell shall not within the time aforesaid assign to or in trust for and allow the said Jane Ann Remfry to receive such Interest and proceeds during her natural life then I give and bequeath the said two several Messuages hereditaments and premises as aforesaid occupied by Mr.Michell and Mr.Farley, including the aforesaid two rooms belonging to the house occupied by Mr.Farley, unto the said Jane Ann Remfry her Executors Administrators and Assigns for and during all my eastate term and Interest therein separate and apart from any Husband with whome she may intermarry and not to be subject to his debts control or engagements Provided that if the said Thomas Edwards Remfry and Jane Ann Remfry or either of them or any of the persons entitled to the same respectively under the provisions hereinbefore contained shall not keep the said Lime Yard Kiln and premises and the said three several Messuages hereditaments and premises or any or either of them in good and substantial Repair or do not as the present lives on which the same respectively are held drop off procure other names to be added in lieu thereof and pay the premiums and ground rent rates taxes and assessments chargeable on the same hereditaments and premises then that my Executors their Executors and Administrators do enter into possession of such part thereof in respect of which default hath been made and after Repairing the same and paying the ground rent rates taxes and assessments and all other outgoings do pay the clear rents and profits thereof unto such person or persons as would but for this provision be entitled to the possession and enjoyment of the same hereditaments and premises. I give and bequeath all my Household Furniture Plate Jewells Stores and Cash in hand unto my Daughter Jane Ann Remfry absolutely for her own use and benefit And I give and bequeath all my right and Interest in the Forty five pounds club and all sums to be received therefrom on my decease unto the said Jane Ann Remfry In Trust to pay thereout my funeral charges laying my Body in that piece of ground in Kenwyn Church yard enclosed with a Granite Curb of Stone close to where my late dear Wife Mary Remfry was buried, and to retain the remainder of such sum for her own use, And I do hereby revoke all former wills made by me and do appoint the said Jane Ann Remfry and my Sons George Farrell Remfry and Joseph Remfry to be the Executrix and Executors of this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Gerrans Remfry have hereunti set my hand this nineteenth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty seven.

George Greynvile 1595

In the name of God Amen 11th.Feb.1595 I George Greynvile of Penheale ---- Cornwall, Esquire ---- [MISSING SECTION] ------ in manner and form following whereby I trust there shall not remian any cause of unnaturalness or unkindness betwixt my wife and children or any other person.

First therefore after the surrendering of my soul unto the hands of God my creator trusting to be redeemed by the blood of his son Christ in hope of a joyful resurrection I do hereby request my wife my executors and overseers that my body may be buried in the chancel at Egloster ---

if I happen to die within that parish and that there may be bestowed £10 in some plain and decent tomb in remembrance of my grandfather my father and myself.

Item I do give and bequeath unto my wife during her life in full recompense of her jointure and dower my Barton and Manor of Hilton, My Manor of Westmeddon and Altercombe, all my lands in the City of Exeter and one tenement in Kilkhampton called Westland being one annuity or feu charge of 13s 4d yearly out of the Manor and Barton of Dunshediock in Devon all which was covenanted and agreed on betwixt her father and me to be assured unto her for her jointure before our marriage. And I do further in augmentation thereof hereby give unto her during her life all my lands in Broodwoodkelly in the County of Devon which was the late inheritance of my Grandfather John Kellawaye esquire.

Item I do give unto her so as she do content herself with her jointure before specified and the other lands which I have added to the same during her life and do not molest or trouble any of my tenants but they may quietly hold and enjoy their leases according to my grants nor do challenge any dower but content herself with her jounture and her own lands these parcels of goods following.

Imprimis the third part of all my bedding, half my linen of all sorts, half my pewter, the one half of my pots and pans, the down bed with the furniture and great furnace( the brewing pan and greatest pot excepted yo my son John).

Item I give to her her own chain of gold, all her apparell and jewels, a nest of silver bowls parcell gilted with the salt to the same, a gilded silver bowl which I had from Trevorder and a dozen silver spoons.

Item I give unto her the one half of all the corn in the mowhay and in the ground, 8 oxen, 10 kyne, 1 bull,100 sheep, her nag,2 other geldings, 2 mares, all the hogs and poultry.

Item I do give unto her a wain, a butt, iron ware and yokes and all other neccessaries for husbandry for her 8 oxen. But if my wife do trouble my tenents or do claim any dower in my lands and bring writ or dower or do any voluntary and apparent act in molesting any of my tenants and do not content herself with her jointure assured unto her, then I do give all these legacies unto my son George Greynvile.

Item I do give unto my son Richard my lease of Peters house and Hewetts in Dunhevitt borough alias Launceston which I did take of my cousin Tristram Arscott esquire. And whereas I have given unto him one annuity of twenty pounds during the term of four score years if he live so long ( as appeareth by my deed bearing date 6th. March ---). Now know ye that my will is not only hereby to confirm and testify the same not doubting but his brother will quietly suffer him to take and receive the same according to the purpose of my will and deed. But I do hereby further give unto him when he cometh to 21 years of age my lease of the Islands and meadows at Tintagel. And I do also give unto him for four score years ( if he do live so long) all that tenement called Smallhill and grounds called Newham and Puddinsham within the parish of Otterham ( his estate to begin presently on the expiring of a lease made unto William Howe of the same by George Carivethiam for 21 years) the said Richard then yielding and paying yearly unto his brother George Greynvile and his heirs the old and accustomed rents.

Item I do hereby give and bequeath unto Sir Francis Godolphin knight, Sir Henry Killigrew knight, Barnard Greynvile, Nicholas Wadham of Muifield, Richard Carew of Anthony, Tristram Arscott and Nicholas Greynvile esquires and the survivor of them and his heirs all my lands (excepting the alterledge of Egloster and Tremayne and my house and Barton of Penheale held in socage and two parts all my lands held in knights service, to have and to hold the same for and during the term of 10 years presently after my death towards the payment of my debts and legacies and towards the obtaining of the wardship and marriage of my son and heir to his own use. And if so be the said Sir Francis Godolphin, Sir Henry Killigrew, Barnard Greynfeild and the rest of my overseers of this my last will and testament shall not in the space of 10 years next and immediate ensuing my death levy and receive so much money as withsuch of my goods which I do appoint to be sold shall be able to satisfy and pay my debts and legacies. Then I do hereby give unto them the 2 parts of all my lands held in knights service and all my land sheld in socage towards the payment of the same until my son and heir come to and accomplish the age of twenty one years unless the same be before that time satisfied of the profits therof.

Item I give to every one of my 5 daughters Florence, Marie, Ebbott,Grace,and Elizabeth £100 already assured to be paid out of my Manor and Barton of Penheale and other lands in such manner and form as is contained in a ffeoffment of that Manor and other lands bearing date 7th. April -----(?) that now is to be paid unto every one of them at their marriage or when they come to 21 years of age as therby more plainly apeeareth and £4 apiece yearly in such manner and for such time as is contained in the said ffeoffment which remaineth in my chesr.

Item I do give unto every of my 5 daughters Florence, Mary, Ebbott, Grace and Elizabeth £110 more to be payed unto every of them in manner and form following,that is to say to Florence, Mary and Ebbott £100 apiece to be paid unto every of them at Christmas next and immediately ensuing my death. And to Grace and Elizabeth £100 apiece to be paid unto every of them at Christmas 12 months after with the benefit of which sum of money being employed by their mother and such gentlemen as are hereafter named to their several uses and commodities together with theis portions and annuities of £4 per annum and theid diligent and good behaviours in service they shall be able by Gods grace to maintain themselves in good sort as gentlewomen ought to do. I do therfore hereby request my wife and my cousin Tristram Arscott to see that £100 to be paid unto Florence at Christmas next after my death to be employed to her use and benefit. And my wife and my brother and sister bevill and my cousin Carewe in like sort for Marys £100 then to be paid and to be employed to her use, and my wife, my uncle Nicholas Greynvile and my brother dennis for Ebbotts £100 then to be paid to be emplyed to her benefit and my wife, my cousin Robert Moyle and my brother and sister Blighe for Graces £100 to be paid her at Christmas 12 months after to be employed to her commodity and my wife, my cousin Barnard Greynvile and Mr.John Hender esquire for Elizabeths £100 to be apid to be employed to her benefit.

item I do give unto my servants their annuities and portions of goods following,

Item my will is and I do request my wife to find poor Tom meat, drink, lodging and apparel during his life.

The rset of all my goods and chattels as well moveable as unmoveable I do hereby give and bequeath unto my son George Greynvile and I do also give unto him my sapphire and turquoise rings and I do make him my sole and only executor of this my last will and testament. But my will and mind is that my wife shall have the use of all the goods excepting such as shall be sold towards the payment of my debts and legacies until my son George Greynvile ( if God permit him to live so long ) shall come unto and accomplish the age of 21 years ( Giving bond as hereafter is mentioned for delivery of the same ). And if he happen to die before he comes to 21 years of age then I do hereby give and bequeath unto my son Richard Greynvile all such goods and chattels as I have before given to my son George and they shall then wholly remain and come unto him as they should have done unto his brother and my wife to have the use of the same until my son Richard come unto the age of 21 years sealing and delivering unto my overseers hands to the use of my sons in double the value they shall be appraised as to deliver the samr unto them or one of them unto this my last will.

Item my will is that none of the armour, books, pictures, maps, stonings,troughs,keyves or fine timber or any of my pans, pots, furnace,pewter, kitchen vessels. plate, bedsteads, bedding, boards, chests, linen or any my goods or household stuff shall be sold at all towards the payment of my debts and legacies but truly be inventoried and kept for my son.

My will is that all my corn , cattle and sheep not before given or bequeathed to my wife shall be sold within one month after my death for the payment of my debts and legacies in one day in open proclamation made for such as list to come and buy the same. And I do hereby nominate, appoint and request my wife, my cousin Carew, my uncle Nicholas Greynvile and my cousin Leonard yeo to sell the same.

And I do commit unto my wife the education of my sons and 5 daughters until their several marriages or until they come to 21 years of age (if she shall remain widow so long) and to have towards their funding their allowances of £4 apiece specified in theffeoffment of the Manor of Penheale aforesaid and for 12 years next after my death (if she do remain widow so long ) the house and barton of Penheale and the alterledge of Egloster and Tremayne, yielding and paying therfore yearly unto my executor and overseers towards the payment of my debts and legacies and fynding of my son to school £40.

Item I do earnestly request my wife, my cousin Carew and my uncle Nicholas Greynvile that all my evidences may continue in my closet at Penheale and the cupboard or closet in which it shall be put well and surely locked with three locks and keys whereof each of them to keep one and not to puse any of the same unless they be all three present. And if any be taken out that a note be given in writing by my wife of the same and the same safely set in again within a short time as may be.

Item for the better knowledge of my wife and overseers I have in schedule hereunto annexed what annuities I do pay out of my lands and what debts I do owe and what money is due and owing unto me.

Item I do request my wife and overseers that she and they do make so good friendships as they may to obtain the wardship of my son to his own use whereinI request them to spare for no indifferent price if the same may be had for money. And that great care be taken that my sons may be brought up in learning herein using the advice of my cousin Carew of Anthony and my cousin Barnard Greynvile.

Item whereas my wife is now with child and I am uncertain whether I shall return out of Ireland whether I determine God willing very speedily to travel before her delivery I do hereby give unto the said child if it be a maid £200 to be levied and paid in such sort and at such time as I have appointed my other daughters to be paid and £4 yearly pension as to the other daughters.
