Will

The last will and Testament of Pascoe Grenfell of the Town of Dodgeville County of Iowa and State of Wisconsin.

I Pascoe Grenfell considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory , blessed be Almighty God for the same , do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and

And form following (that is to Say).

First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jane Grenfell the sum of Two Hundred Dollars.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my eldest son John T. Grenfell the sum of one dollar.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my four sons, William P. Grenfell, Pascoe Grenfell, James Hosea Grenfell and George Edwin Grenfell the sum of one dollar each.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my three daughters Jane Hoskins, Eliza Williams and Nanny T. Bartle the sum of one dollar each.

Which several legacies or sums of money I will and order to be paid to the respective legatees within six months after my decease.

And lastly as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate goods chattels of what kind or nature soever together with all real estate I give and bequeath the same to my beloved wife whom I Hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament: hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Twenty Ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one.

Will

This is the last will and testament of me William Maddern of the parish of St.Buryan in the County of Cornwall, ffarmer. I give and bequeath unto my four sons James, John ,William and Thomas Maddern all that my leasehold tenements and premises called The Gears situate in the parish of St.Hilary in the County of Cornwall to have and to hold the same unto my said four sons, James, John William and Thomas their executors admons and assigns from and immediately after my death for and during all the rest residue and remainder of the term Estate and interest where may be there therein to come and expire as tenants in common and not as joint tenants subject nevertheless to the payment of one annuity or yearly rent charge of eight pounds per annum payable thereout by quarterly payments to my dear wife Constance during the term of her natural life if the term estate and interest I now have therein shall so long continue , the first quarterly payment of the said annuity to be made on the first usual quarter days of payment as shall next happen after my death with the usual power of distress in case of nonpayment thereof the same as in case of distress for rent and it is my will and meaning that in case my said wife shall happen to outlive the life now on the said premises that the said annuity of eight pounds shall continue to be paid by her in quarterly payments during her natural life by my executors hereinafter named out of my residuary estate and effects.

I give and bequeath to my said wife such of my household ffurniture as may be necessary for her use during her life and from and immediately after her death I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Honour the wife of William Warren of the parish of St. Buryan aforesaid the sum of five pounds to be paid her one month after my decease. I give and bequeath unto Dorothy Victor the Daughter of Catherine Roach of the parish of Uny Lelant the sum of five pounds to be paid her one month after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my three Daughters Mary , Constance and Elizabeth Maddern the sum of twenty pounds each to be paid them as and when they shall severally attain the age of twenty one years and it ismy will and meaning that my said three Daughters shall reside with and be provided for by my executors till they shall severally attain their said age of twenty one years. All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels rights credits and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kindsoever not hereinbefore given and disposed of I give and bequeath the ------ to my said four sons James Maddern, John Maddern, William Maddern and Thomas Maddern their executors, admons and assigns to be equally divided between them share and share alike subject nevertheless to the payment of the annuity and several legacies hereinbefore mentioned and I do hereby make, nominate, constitute and appoint my said son James to be Executor in Trust/ and also I make, nominate, constitute and appoint my Dear Wife Guardian in Trust to act jointly with my said son James Executor in Trust till my youngest child shall attain the age of twenty one years / of this my last will during the minorities of my said sons John , William and Thomas and immediately on my said sons John, William and Thomas severally attaining their age of twenty one years I do make constitute and appoint them in conjunction with my said son James Executors and Residuary Legatees of this my last Will and Testament they paying all my just debts thereinbefore mentioned, annuity and legacies, ffuneral expenses and the charges of proving this my will and hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time herebefore made and declare this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have to this my last will contained in two sheets of paper to the first sheet hereof I have set my hand and to the second and last sheet have set my hand and affixed my seal the third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and twenty.

Will

I Pascoe Grenfell of Penzance Merchant (in the County of Cornwall) being of perfect mind and memory, do hereby make this my last will and testament. I give and bequeath to my wife, one shilling. To my eight children, one shilling each.

To Eliza Ann Angle, the worthy widow of -----(?) Angle Esq., (now at Bristol with her relation Mr.Fry) ten pounds per annum to be paid her yearly out of my effects by my executors in trust, hereafter named, or their representatives from my decease to her death or to her the said Eliza Ann Angle or representatives recommend. Also give and bequeath to the said Eliza Ann Angle my gold watch, gold chain and two gold seals with my arms, and God will bless her this Eliza Ann Angle for the attention which that lady paid to me in supporting me whilst under trouble and sorrow of mind occasions occasioned by the ill treatment of my wife for which may God forgive my wife, as I do, and my children, come to maturity and settled in life, towards whom I have discharged my duty at all times, and sure am I, I should not have been so unfortunate as I have been for many years, and still am, by my childrens conduct towards me, was it not for this Mother by whom they have been infatuated to act contrary to their dispositions, contrary to the goodness of heart, so conspicuous in their intercourse with each other and with all ----- their ------ God has blessed them in point of circumstances, they want nothing from me. May Heaven continue to hold the Blessed Mantle over them and theirs forever, amen.

God will support them who put their trust in Him. I fear not what man can do unto me. Truly in my Saviour

I give and bequeath also to the aforesaid Eliza Ann Angle, six silver forks, six silver table spoons, a silver fish spoon, two large silver gravy spoons (tea caddy mounted with gold worth six guineas) two silver butter boats and all my china, some of which my beloved Grandmothers' and Mothers', all the before mentioned (that is), my six forks etc etc to my china as above particularised I give and bequeath to the aforenamed Eliza Ann Angle, being eighteen articles, and all my china also.

I give and bequeath to my poor relations Elizabeth Grenfell and Avis Grenfell of Marazion, daughters of Rc. Grenfell ,smith, each three guineas to be paid each yearly during their respective lives from my decease.

I appoint Davis Giddy of Tredea, Thomas Roberts of Penz.,Clerk and John Thomas of ------(?) to be my executors in trust of this my last will and testament for the purpose hereafter mentioned

And chattles (except before excepted) to me by my said executors in trust dispose of in such manner as they or the majority may think proper.

Encashing my tin bounds in the different parishes in Cornwall ninety six pair and parts which I order -----

To be sold, but the product from this ----- to be received by my said executors in trust for the use of my grandchildren share and share alike by them, children of my eight children, such of my grandchildren of them who shall be living at my decease and representatives for ever. My will also is, that is, freehold warehouses, the wharfs, cellars, lofts, vacant ------, and the appertunances near Penzance Quay as measured in my memory be not sold (the freehold) but separate lease for lives granted as per ---- in my ------, hereby authorising my said executors in trust to grant ----- ------ lease, and the money to be applied as they shall think proper ------ --------, I recommend to grant in three lives as my ----- set forth and not until the fishing

Will

In the name of God amen.

I Ephraim Weymouth of the parish of St.Buryan in the County of Cornwall, Yeoman, being sick of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do this first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty six make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say, I recommend my soul to God hoping through the merits of my Saviour to obtain salvation and y body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named.

Imprimis. I give and bequeath to my son Ephraim Weymouth of the parish of Gulval in the County of Cornwall aforesaid five pounds to be paid him by my Executor six months after my decease.

Item, I give and bequeath to my son Henry Weymouth of the parish of St.Buryan aforesaid the sum of two hundred pounds to be paid him two years after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named and hereby charge my Estate called Highhill and ------- (?) situate in St. Lena in the said parish of St.Buryan with the payment thereof.

Item, Whereas James Thomas of the village of Newlyn in the parish of Paul in the County aforesaid my son in law stands indebted to me in the sum of seventy five pounds principal money and interest due on a mortgage made by him on his household tenement in Street Crowan in the said parish of Paul near Newlyn aforesaid now my will and meaning is that if the said James Thomas shall pay off and discharge the said mortgage money and interest within six months from the day of my death to my Executor hereinafter named I hereby give and bequeath to the said James Thomas a moeity of the said mortgage money and interest to be deducted of the said principal money and interest if it shall be then due and by him to be retained in his hands for his own benefit and advantage but in case he shall fail in payment thereof at the time aforesaid that then the said James Thomas shall be precluded and debarred of and from all benefit and advantage of this bequeast which I do hereby declare shall be void with failure of payment as aforesaid and I do give and bequeath the same to my said Executor hereinafter named to and for his own and sole benefit and advantage without being accountable to any person whatsoever and I give and bequeath to Margaret the wife of the said James Thomas five shillings to be paid within one month after my decease by my Executor.

Item, I give and bequeath to my Dearly Beloved wife Margaret Weymouth the sum of one pound and one shilling to be paid her within one week after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Weymouth the sum of five shillings and six pence to be paid her six months after my decease.

Item, All the rest of my Goods Chattels Estates Rights and Credits of what nature or kind soever and not having already disposed of I give devise and bequeath to my son James (or Thomas) Weymouth whom I do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint whole and sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will or wills by me at any heretofore.

In witness whereof I the said Ephraim Weymouth have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
