I thought it was about time that I created a theme that suited the blog title and incorporated all (and only) the features I wanted. Subject to change in the future, this is it.
It is
- Mimimalist—so a lot of things that I don’t want/like are missing. Like calendar, monthly archives (what is the point) etc.
- Fluid—it works to any (reasonable) screen size
- Extensible header image—one that stretches with the screen
- There is built-in (but optional) support for my favourite plugins—Akismet, Custom Comments, Get Recent Comments, Gravatar and Paged Comments.
If you like it, I have made it available as a download. It should be fairly easy to adapt.
Please report any problems here and I will do my best to fix them, otherwise, what-you-see-is-what-you-get (except the logo at the bottom which is not included in the download).
Looks good – not sure about the minty fresh background colour – but that is probably just my personal prejudice against green – maybe breaking it up by applying a different colour to the divs around each blog entry or something would break it up nicely.
I have spotted a small issue with the extensible header image; when the window is wide enough for the text “A soggy blog by Rick Parsons” to appear on a single line, the centre image (i.e. between the 2 ends of the bath) no longer lines up with the two end images along the base line (I am using Firefox 2.0.0.4, in IE it seems ok). I am guessing it is just one of those tedious CSS things!
Strange, it looks ok on my systems! If it is out, it can’t be more than one px. Has the cache been cleared? Mind, you have to go to a very small window or big text to get it to drop over to two lines!
As you can now see there is a slight tint on every other comment, is this what you meant? The degree of mint seems to depend on the monitor; it is greener here on the office Dell’s than on the HannsGs at home where it was designed (a touch bluer there). It is strange the aversion to green some people have. The church rejected my initial design for their site which was a pale lime. I chose it because it is distinctive; there are few green sites about. Perhaps that is why 🙂
Just to let you know your bathtub header looks really strange with you monitor setup at 1,440 pixels wide. Looks like a strage long bathtub limousine that fills the screen.
Yeah, cool isn’t it. You should see it at 1280, you could hold a party in there 😀
